Last weekend I sent my heavy winter coats home and my closet and I shared a sigh of relief. Now that the cherry blossoms are beginning to bloom, I’ve moved in all my favorite spring dresses and replaced sweaters with cropped tanks and tennis skirts.
It seems to be a bit of an unpopular opinion in the fashion world, but I absolutely prefer spring and summer sundresses over fall colors and winter layers. I love pastels and gingham, white Chucks and cherries. My ideal look is probably a cross between country club tennis mom and 5-year-old picnic-goer. For this look, I chose to stick with a few of my spring basics.
Denim jackets have always been a spring staple in my wardrobe. Even though I had to trade in the tattered, light-wash denim security blanket I wore through high school, I have several new jackets that get me through transitional months. This darker, tailored jacket reminds me of late nights on the Ocean City boardwalk and parking lot carnivals.
I paired my jacket with my favorite colors: baby blue and blush pink. This button-back dress from American Apparel is one of my favorite versatile pieces. Here I’m wearing it with my pink Kate Spade bag and matching H&M statement necklace.
This year has been all about growth and pushing myself to do better. With amazing ladies like Maddie and Amelia by my side, it’s definitely not difficult to find motivation. These women inspire me to push myself both professionally and creatively and I’m lucky to have them as friends. Plus, this impromptu photoshoot was a blast! Each of them have a unique style, so check out their blogs too see what they’re wearing here.
Not only are Maddie and Amelia my style inspirations, lunch dates and close friends, they’re also my Guru Gang. Those of you who follow me on social media know that I’ve spent spring semester as a Style Guru Intern for CollegeFashionista. CollegeFashionista has been not only a fun way to show off style around Temple’s campus and practice photography, but also a great networking opportunity. I love following other Style Gurus on Instagram, reading their articles and finding outfit inspo on their blogs. I look forward to staying with CollegeFashionista for the rest of my college career and hopefully collaborating with other Gurus!
This spring I’m inspired by my girls, soft colors and Paris. I’m looking forward to things to come with new internships, travel and good friends. Putting together this lookbook with my Guru Gang was a blast, even though there’s a shortage of spring scenery in North Philly! Look out for more collaborations to come!
